RICHARD MANDEL, PRESIDENT

Mr. Mandel is responsible for the overall development and operation of Ramsfield Hospitality Finance (“RHF”). He has a specific focus on new deal origination and capital formation. Richard founded Ramsfield Hospitality Finance as a joint venture with CarVal Investors in 2003 (f.k.a. Cargill Value Investment).

Since the founding of the Company, RHF has been involved in over $2 billion of hotel debt and equity investments.  These investments have yielded a nearly 20% IRR.

Prior to the founding of Ramsfield, Richard was Director and Founder of Kenedix. From 1995 to 2002 Kenedix grew from a start-up to a full service real estate investor and advisory firm. The company entered the public markets in Japan with a successful IPO in 2002 and today is a market leader in the country.

From 1993 through 2002, Mr. Mandel held various senior positions at Kennedy Wilson USA, culminating as President of the Commercial Investment Sales Group. Under his leadership, Kennedy Wilson completed over $1 billion of commercial real estate transactions. In addition to running the Investment Sales Group, Mr. Mandel originated and oversaw over $500 million of principal investments for Kennedy Wilson.

Mr. Mandel was previously a Director at Jones Lang Wootton USA and was involved with all aspects of real estate investment banking from disposition, analysis, marketing, negotiations and closing.

Mr. Mandel received his Masters degree from the J.L. Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a BA degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.

 

Adam Maisel, principal

Mr. Maisel is responsible for all aspects of new transaction sourcing and underwriting. He also oversees Ramsfield’s asset management team, working with its management arm and third-party service providers to effect operational decisions that increase the value of hospitality investments and reduce risk.

Mr. Maisel also helps guide the company’s overall operations, including capital raising efforts.

This is Adam’s second stint at RHF, having previously worked at the company for over five years originating and closing on hotel debt transactions. Prior to rejoining the company, Adam spent five years at GB Lodging / GFI Hospitality, a hotel investment firm focused on lifestyle hotels. He led GFI’s hotel acquisition team, helping to successfully amass a hotel portfolio valued in excess of $1 billion. He also supported the company’s hotel financing efforts, including the closing of many customized debt and preferred equity transactions on GFI’s hotel portfolio. Additionally, he worked with GFI’s Asset Management and Development teams in overseeing the company’s unique hotel properties and complex development projects.

Mr. Maisel earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration with a concentration in real estate finance. He has spent his entire career focusing on hospitality real estate investing, becoming intimately involved with all facets of hotel ownership at hotel’s ranging in size from 30 rooms – 500 rooms in throughout the United States, including Hawaii, and Mexico.

 

Brendan McNamara, Principal

Mr. McNamara is responsible for overseeing the investment analysis team and loan closings. Additionally, he spearheads underwriting and closings of all hotel acquisitions and loan purchases. In this capacity, he leads both the property and market analysis of each new investment in addition to formulating the respective investment's pro forma and business plan.

Mr. McNamara also oversees the asset management of all on-going hotel debt investments: monitoring current positions and analyzing market and property performances, managing third-party hotel operators and loan servicers, administering construction and renovation projects, and, when necessary, restructuring distressed positions while navigating investments to successful exits. He also assists with the company’s overall operations, including formulating and executing investment strategies.

Prior to joining Ramsfield, Mr. McNamara served as an Associate at Trimont Real Estate Advisors focusing on hospitality special asset management and real estate asset management. While at Trimont, he supported the development and execution of loan modification strategies for under-performing, non-performing, and REO hospitality loans, while also asset managing on-going senior, mezzanine, and equity positions. Prior to his time at Trimont, Mr. McNamara was a Financial Analyst in Business Development at Davidson Hotels & Resorts, a hotel owner and operator, where he was responsible for underwriting hotel acquisitions, management takeovers, and development opportunities.

Mr. McNamara holds a Bachelors of Science degree from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration.

 

Andrew Gruseke, Vice President

Mr. Gruseke is responsible for underwriting prospective investments, conducting market research, and asset managing Ramsfield’s hotel investments.

Prior to joining Ramsfield, Mr. Gruseke served as an Acquisitions & Development Associate at MCR Investors. While at MCR, Mr. Gruseke was responsible for underwriting and acquiring seven hotels throughout the US, previewing +200 investment opportunities, and assisting with hotel dispositions. Mr. Gruseke began his career as an Analyst in Wells Fargo's Hospitality Finance Group, where he was involved with underwriting and closing on $200 million in loan originations while asset managing a robust loan portfolio.

Mr. Gruseke graduated from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration in 2016 with a minor in Real Estate & Development.

 

Anuraag Lamichhane, Associate

Mr. Lamichhane assists the team with underwriting new hotel debt and equity opportunities, conducting market research, and asset managing Ramsfield’s hotel investments.

Prior to joining Ramsfield, Mr. Lamicchane was an Acquisitions & Development analyst with Noble Investment Group, where he was responsible for underwriting acquisition and development opportunities, preparing investment memorandums, and conducting market research. While at Noble, Mr. Lamichhane assisted in the closing of over a dozen hotel acquisitions.

Mr. Lamichhane graduated from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration with a minor in Real Estate & Development.

 
 

Lameeka Yancey, Accounting Manager & Office Administrator

Ms. Yancey oversees all daily accounting for Ramsfield. While she is mainly focused on the operating platform, she also spends time on interest collections and asset management of the Company’s investments. In addition, Ms. Yancey is responsible for HR, operational and administrative issues at RHF.

Prior to joining Ramsfield, Ms. Yancey was a Financial Accounting Manager at Creative Business Inc. where she managed the daily operations of the accounting department. She holds an accounting degree from Kingsborough Community College.
